Don't just hear life, live life
Hearing Loss Can Make It Difficult To Understand, Follow or Participate in Conversations.
Hearing is the ability to hear and understand sound in our environment.
Changes in your hearing can be a gradual process or it can be a sudden change. Identifying hearing loss is not always that easy and other people may notice changes before you do.
One of the early signs of hearing loss is a struggle with speech recognition. You may find yourself mishearing what people say – whether it is a word of a sentence. You ask yourself asking people, “What?” and to repeat themselves.

What happens during your hearing test?
On arrival at our practice you will receive a warm welcome from our friendly reception staff.
- Firstly, our Hearing Aid Dispenser will discuss your hearing with you, including questions about your lifestyle and general health history.
- Secondly, we will examine both your ears using an otoscope. This will allow us to assess the health of your ear / ear canal, and whether there is any infection or obstruction, such as ear wax, that could be affecting your hearing.
- Penultimately, we will test your hearing using a method called Pure Tone Audiometry. This is a subjective hearing test used to identify the hearing threshold levels of an individual, enabling our Hearing Aid Dispenser to determine the degree and type of any hearing loss.
- Lastly, we will talk you through your results. If a loss has been identified we can advise and discuss options, or if you prefer sometime to digest the data and discuss with those close to you, we are happy to book a follow up appointment. Patient centred care is at the heart of what we do, and therefore we will not rush you into making any decisions.
