On arrival at our practice you will receive a warm welcome from our friendly reception staff.  Once the Hearing Aid Dispenser has followed all the COVID-19 safety rules, they will introduce themselves and invite you into the consultation room.

What happens during your hearing test?

  •  Firstly, our Hearing Aid Dispenser will discuss your hearing with you, including questions about your lifestyle and general health history.
  • Secondly, we will examine both your ears using an otoscope.  This will allow us to assess the health of your ear / ear canal, and whether there is any infection or obstruction, such as ear wax, that could be affecting your hearing.
  • Penultimately, we will test your hearing using a method called Pure Tone Audiometry.  This is a subjective hearing test used to identify the hearing threshold levels of an individual, enabling our Hearing Aid Dispenser to determine the degree and type of any hearing loss.
  • Lastly, we will talk you through your results.  If a loss has been identified we can advise and discuss options, or if you prefer sometime to digest the data and discuss with those close to you, we are happy to book a follow up appointment.  Patient centred care is at the heart of what we do, and therefore we will not rush you into making any decisions.
