OCT (3D EYE SCAN)

As part of our commitment to giving you the best possible eye care, we now offer a state of the art, advanced OCT 3D eye scan that can detect eye disease at the earliest possible stage.

Our OCT eye scan allows us to easily and accurately detect numerous key eye conditions, including macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease during your routine eye test. Up to 80% of vision impairment and blindness can be prevented by early detection with our OCT eye scan.

Throughout a normal eye examination, your optometrist can only see the top layer of your retina. The 3D OCT scan allows viewing of the deeper layers of retinal tissues, giving you the peace of mind that comes with knowing your eyes are in great condition.

WHAT IS OCT?

Ocular Coherence Tomography is a non-intrusive advanced eye scan that allows us to view each layer of the retina. No matter your age, you can have an OCT scan. Much like an ultrasound, OCT uses light instead of soundwaves to illustrate the layers within the back of the eye. Our 3D OCT eye scan also captures a digital photograph of the surface of the eye at the same time, this is then cross-referenced with any areas of concern.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING OCT?

You will sit in front of the OCT machine and rest your head on a support. The equipment will then scan your eye without touching it. The process is completely painless and scanning takes approximately 20 seconds per eye. The optometrist will then take the time to explain the results to you and show you how your eye looks in 3D.
