Jennifer Seivwright
Clinical Lead Optometrist
My Optometry journey started after graduating Optometry at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2010 and completing training in NHS Fife.
With an interest in anterior eye and ocular surface problems, I carried on training in 2020 to complete my Independent Prescribing qualification. This is very beneficial to be able to treat a range of eye conditions and manage emergency eye situations in practice day to day to minimise the involvement of the hospital eye service.
My main interests in Optometry are treating ocular surface problems, including Dry Eye. I love being able to offer our Dry Eye clinic to help patients manage chronic eye discomfort which bothers them day to day. I really enjoy the advanced technology we have in Pinder Eyecare, such as IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and BlephEx.
I also have an interest in helping manage myopic children and further developed my knowledge in this by completing the Myopia Management diploma at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2023.
I love working as the Clinical Lead Optometrist in Pinder Eyecare as I get to work alongside a fantastic team daily, and provide quality eyecare that is suitable for everyone in our community and beyond.
When I am not busy in work, you will either find me busy socialising with friends or training for fitness competitions like Hyrox, or entering another race!
Emma Sinclair
Optometrist
I trained as an Optometrist at Glasgow Caledonian University graduating in 2020. Since then I have commuted between practices in Glasgow and Dumfries, I am now delighted to have joined the team at Pinder Eyecare working between Shawlands and Burnside.
The advanced technology available in the practices allows me to explain the results of the test in detail and monitor should it be required. In addition I am joining my colleague Jennifer by furthering my qualifications to become an Independent Prescribing Optician which will enable me to treat more complex eye conditions without further referral to hospital/GP.
Pinder Eyecare allows me to take time and provide a much more personal eye examination. I enjoy chatting to patients throughout the eye exam and giving advice when it comes to the fun part of choosing new frames.
When not at work, my hobbies include running, going out with friends and walking my cocker spaniel Mylo!
Mhairi Finnigan
Optometrist
I’m one of the Optometrists here at Pinder Eyecare and work between our Burnside and Shawlands practice. I recently joined the team after working in NHS Lanarkshire and training at Glasgow Caledonian University having gained valuable experience across a range of clinical settings.
I have a strong interest in contact lens care and enjoy helping patients find the most suitable option for their individual needs. This includes fitting lenses for children, which can support self-esteem, improve vision for sports and even play a role in slowing myopia progression, as well as adults looking for convenient contact lenses for social and sporty lifestyles. I regularly use multifocal contact lenses for presbyopic patients looking for an alternative option to the constant need for reading glasses and looking for more visual freedom throughout the day.
What I value most about working at Pinder Eyecare is our access to cutting-edge diagnostic technology and our approach to providing modern and personalised eye care using some of the latest clinical innovations.
Simone Morgado
Optometrist
I grew up in Toronto, where I achieved my H.BSc in life sciences at the University of Toronto. I then went on to train as an optometrist at Aston University, where I completed my Master of Optometry in 2021. I have since worked across Tayside and more recently here in Glasgow.
I believe that within optometry, personal development is key to providing the best care possible, with the most up to date research and practises. As part of this, I have since secured my professional certificate in paediatric eye care and hope to be fully qualified as an independent prescriber soon.
I am lucky to be working at Pinder, where I have access to the most up to date resources, technology and lenses, to provide everyone I see with the very best care. I have a special interest in paediatric eye care, and with that, myopia management. I believe in providing a safe and welcoming environment to children and young people, and especially those with additional needs.
When I am not at work, you can find me wandering about with my camera or exploring the outdoors.
Emily McAlpine
Dispensing Optician
I began my career in optics in my teenage years and qualified in Ophthalmic Dispensing from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2017. After several years working abroad in Australia and New Zealand, I returned to Scotland in 2021 and have since focused on pediatric eye care, with a particular passion for myopia management.
This is an area of expertise that I feel strongly about, and in 2025 I was honoured to win the UK-wide Myopia Management Leader of the Year Award. I am committed to helping children and their families access the very best options to slow the progression of myopia, and I’ve developed resources and pathways to make this care as accessible as possible.
During my time working in an independent optician in Far North Queensland, Australia, I glazed countless prescription scuba diving goggles and sunglasses — so I’m able to help with any upcoming holiday eyewear needs too!
The team at Pinder Eyecare are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, making it a fantastic practice to both work at and visit.
